Delhi to Jaipur and back to Delhi

We had an amazing time traveling around more of northern India. Our stops included visits to forts, palaces, and local towns, as well as city tours.

We visited Fatehpur Sikri, a red sandstone fort city that was once the capital of India's Mughal Empire and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We also went to Abhaneri Stepwell, Chand Baori, a 10th-century water tank. This was built as the main water source due to limited rainfall in the area, where women would gather water and sit and chat.

A new highlight was staying in a tent in Dhula Village. Four of us opted to do a sunrise bike tour through the small village. It was amazing riding around as the locals began their day and kids walked to school. Our guide took us to his family's home where his mother made us Chai masala, and his sister-in-law was doing some very fine needlework.

While in Jaipur, we learned about Anoothi Block Printing. We had a blast walking and taking a tuk-tuk around the pink city in the evening. It's called the pink city because all buildings must be terracotta, but when faded, they look more pink.

Navigating the traffic here while walking and riding is a true art. Even if you're walking on the sidewalk, you have to watch for stray cows. The cows in the streets are strays just like the dogs. As they cannot kill the cows in certain areas, the farmers would let them go once they are no longer useful.

While in Jaipur, we also toured Amber Fort and City Palace. Our final morning there some of us did another sunrise bike ride. What a blast! Among the stops we joined a laughing yoga session, a  Krishna celebration, and appreciated the help from our guides navigating the traffic as it became busy.

We eventually drove back to Delhi and enjoyed a farewell dinner with the rest of our group. Once again, we had a great group of people from around the globe to travel with.

Next destination... Kathmandu, Nepal.
