Wild Ride to El Nido

The five-hour drive from Puerto Princesa is a lovely drive I'm sure, as long as you are not prone to motion sickness and driving with a semi suicidal Mario Andre wanna be!
The entire drive was windy and our driver was a maniac. He drove fast, often squealing tires around the corners. The constant SwerVing SpeEdiNg slOwiNg JerkiNg and near misses left me feeling very green. Even after keeping my eyes closed so I couldn't see what we might hit, moving to the front seat and having him tone it down a bit the five hour ordeal felt like eternity.
Once we arrived, I settled onto our bed for a bit to recover, while Norm did some more trip planning. I hope we are not taking another 2 am flight somewhere.

Our home away from home for the next couple of days is a very modest Airbnb.  Booking last minute in this busy tourist town of El Nino was more difficult to find a place to our liking. We found a little gem, giving up some comfort for a fantastic location, right on the beach, in town, and at the heart of the action.

We ate lunch,  walked around town a bit, which is quite busy, booked a ferry ride off the island in a few days, and also ran into Jen and David who we met and traveled with in Bali.
We wrapped up the evening with an inexpensive massage, watched a local basketball game, and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean waves crashing onto shore.
