Murchison Falls National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Murchison Falls National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

This morning is a very leisurely start to the day. We gather for a late breakfast and catch our ride to the airport.  Our open-air jeep is not one's typical ride to the airport,  but when getting there involves travelling in the same environment as our previous safaris,  it makes sense.
Last night's heavy rain made the roads very muddy and soft, another good reason to be in a jeep.
On our way to the airport, we again saw giraffes and several animals from the antelope family.  We have time to stop for some photo ops with a giraffe who kindly stays in place behind us.
We also had another bonus sighting of two lions resting in a tree.  They have found the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning lounging over a tree branch.   One of the lions eventually climbed out of the tree, and we continued.  Apparently,  after a kill, lions will usually relax for five days. I have added two photos Norm took of the lion coming down from the tree.

I must say,  the Pakuba Airfield is the coolest one I have been to yet.  When we arrive, the makeshift lounge is created when chairs are brought out for us to sit in under the shade of a tree.
We laugh as the local desk agents come over to ensure we feel welcomed while we wait for our planes to arrive. Not everyone in our group, however, warms up to our greeters as they are a rooster and a chicken.
Our 1.5-hour flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is scenic and goes well.
The next leg of the journey is a 4-hour drive up to the lodge for our gorilla trek tomorrow.  I am so excited!
The last leg of this drive up the mountain is so bumpy that my Garmin watch thinks I'm walking and congratulates me on my steps.
After a nice dinner,  we hit the hay to rest for tomorrow's big adventure.
