Uganda Safari by truck and boat.
We are travelling near the end of the rainy season, which means evening and morning rain and thunderstorms are a regular occurrence.
Our early morning safari starts out wet but the skys slowly clear and the air heats up. I love the sunrise colors as we travel around this diverse landscape.
The highlight of this morning’s drive is finding a leopard resting in a tree. Watching it relax, stretch and then climb down the tree with such ease and confidence brought smiles to all our faces. Leopards are shy and harder to find, so this is a pleasant surprise. If we see nothing else, my day is still complete.
This afternoon, we swapped out our jeep for a boat. Our boat safari on the Nile offers up more wildlife, such as crocodiles, elephants, and so many hippos!
Yesterday, we walked around the top of Murchison Falls, and today, we visited the bottom of the falls by boat. We enjoy a serene lunch on the boat as we allow the current to carry us back down the river.
Arriving back at Pukuba Lodge, I enjoy watching the wart hogs graze on the lawn around the cabins.
We rest, freshen up, enjoy a couple of drinks during sunset and chow down for dinner. During dinner, there was a serious thunderstorm and surge of rain that didn't last long but was pretty powerful. I was glad to be indoors and not on an evening safari.
It was another successful interesting and fun day. Not only am I enjoying the safaris, but the company as well. We really have a great group of travelers offering up a lighthearted experience and interesting conversations.
