It's a water day at Kotor.

The first part of our day is spent on the water in kayaks and then on a speed boat. The Bay of Kotor is beautiful, with rolling hills and villages spotted along the way.

The speed boat took us to Our Lady of the Rocks off the coast of Perast in the Bay of Kotor. It's an artificial island created by rocks and sinking old and seized ships loaded with rocks.

We also bounced on a bumpy, rough ride to view a submarine tunnel, an old prison-turned-hotel, and the Blue Cave. Here, a bright blue glow of the water is produced by the sun reflecting through the crystal-clear waters and lighting up the cavern interior. It's a stunning bright blue.

Our evening involved the new ritual of eating dinner, finding a gelato shop and enjoying an evening stroll around the old town.

A Kotor fun fact. Kotor is full of cats that the locals collectively take care of. The cats were introduced to Kotor centuries ago to protect the town from rats, mice and snakes. Nowadays, the cats have become a kind of symbol of both good luck and prosperity and of the old town, which survived despite the wars, sieges and earthquakes.
